Try a new recipe

Spend five minutes today looking for a new recipe. I like to choose one that can go into the crock pot. I chose Vegetarian Gumbo. This was one I found in a BHG cooking magazine I had stuffed away. It's not that I'm vegetarian, but my family like to subscribe to a meatless dinner one in a while. Tonight was the night. It was easy and delicious. So take five minutes to change up your normal dinner menu and try something new!

5 Minutes to find Indoor Fun!

The summer is upon us and down in NC, that means it's really hot outside. While I generally like to get the kids outside so they can breathe some fresh air, I also need a break from the heat and so do they.
So moms, take 5 minutes if you haven't already and find some things to do in your areas that are indoors. I bet you'll find that a lot of them are free.
We have summer movie programs for kids in our area. Some theaters offer free (or close to free) admissions for older movies. Today we saw the Tales of Despereaux. It was enjoyable, free and cool (almost chilly).

Libraries will also offer story times. Museums sometime offer free kid admissions.
So jump online and see what you and your families can do to beat the heat.

Five Minutes for Friends

In this post I wanted to remind us all that friendship is one of the most important relationships that we have. Other than the relationship we have with God, friendship is the one that comes through time and again. Even our spouses should be are greatest friends. I believe the marriages that last are built on a strong foundation of friendship. Our love for our children, that knows no bounds, is shown through are friendship with them. Especially when that friendship comes with a side of even discipline. Make sure to take an Extra 5 minutes with a "friend" everyday. When a girlfriend calls and you feel rushed, spend an extra 5 minutes on the phone. When you are busy with your errands, take 5 minutes aside to call your husband to ask how his day is going. When you are busy scrubbing that stove or bathtub, etc. and your darling little one comes over, take 5 minutes to cuddle on the couch. Not only do you strengthen your relationship but you strengthen your own spirit!

5 minutes Renewed!

What I did today was remind myself to take five minutes to update my blogs. Ha! It has been awhile. Too many balls juggling in the air. But that is exactly what the five minute mom is about. Taking the time to get all the things (even the non important ones) done....five minutes at a time. So here is my pledge to continue on my five minute missions. Starting anew today!

ChaChing$$$

Well, I haven't updated my blog recently. I guess my five minutes have been spent on something else. But that will change. Tonight, my five minutes will be spent discussing ChaCha. ChaCha is a terrific service where people can call or text any question to 242242 or 18002chacha. The question is then answered by a real person (most of the time) and sent back to the "Infoseeker" in the form of a text message. Pretty cool stuff. And I as a new guide get to make a little money at my computer at home. In fact in the last 5 minutes, I have ChaChinged some more cash. SO if you want to check into becoming one of their guides, go to ChaCha.com or if you want to try it out text any question to 242242, it's free!

5 minutes of Guilty Pleasures

That's right! I just spent the last five minutes reading Perez and I'm not the least bit ashamed! I'm entitled to my daily doses of the exact opposite of reality. LOL! Not to mention its almost Halloween and you know you want to know what every one's dressing up as. Come on, Gwen and Gavin dressing up like Eggs and Bacon is pretty funny stuff!

First Five Minutes!

Hello!!!
Welcome to the first post of the Five Minute Mom. This blog is dedicated to those who want to spend all their time doing what they love OR with those they love! Unfortunately, as moms, we have things that we must do everyday to keep our households going. And I don't want to waste one minute more than I have to! So this blog is dedicated to all the things we can do in 5 minutes. I just created a blog and wrote my first entry in 5 minutes. What can you do?
